The Tactical Inhibit Stun Feature

Radios must first be CPS-programmed with the ability to "encode" and / or "decode" the Tactical Inhibit Stun command prior to going out in-the-field (see Tactical Inhibit Stun Operation).

The Stun menu-selection allows a radio-user to transmit the "Stun" command, causing the receiving radio(s) to enter into the Stun mode.

• Prior to the Stun command being transmitted, the radio-user is prompted for the Tactical Inhibit Encode Password; this ensures that unauthorized transmission of this command is not possible.

• This password may be redefined by the radio-user using the Password menu-selection, provided the current password is known.

An unStun password is first CPS-defined in the Radio Lock Unlock Password field.

• This password can also not be viewed within this CPS field when a codeplug is read from the radio.

• This password may be redefined by the radio-user using the Password menu-selection, provided the current password is known.

Once the Stun command is decoded, the radio-user on the receiving radio is then prompted with a password entry screen; this prevents any unauthorized radio usage. Entering the correct Radio Lock Unlock Password un-Stuns the radio immediately.

If the password is entered unsuccessfully in three consecutive attempts, the radio must be powered off and back on before another attempt may be tried.

While Stunned, the radio no longer unmutes to received voice calls and no longer responds to any user activity except Radio Lock Unlock Password entries, or a radio-user initiated "Direct Kill". The radio is still able to decode and respond to a "Kill" command (see the Tactical Inhibit Kill Feature Keystone Concept).
